one of the best things about having a vintage business is having a new excuse to go to estate sales and thrift stores. the hunt has always been the feature attraction for me- that moment when you dig something out of a box or the back of a cabinet and suddenly all the waiting in lines, driving all over the county, and dealing with odd smells in strangers houses is worth it.
with that in mind, i am excited to offer up the first volume in our new series, ‘tales from the hunt’. each week (or so) we’ll share photos and details from one of our ‘hunting’ trips so you can revel along with us! we hope you enjoy…
vol. one: suquamish church rummage sale
while perusing craigslist on friday morning i noticed a church rummage sale ad, along with photos of several rooms packed full of goodies! it happened to be in suquamish (on bainbridge island) which is farther than i would normally go for a sale, but this one looked to be worth it. the weather was nice and bill had the day off from studying, so i asked him to come along and make a day out of it! we drove onto the ferry, enjoyed some ivar’s clam chowder for lunch while taking in the view, and took a little drive to the suquamish church of christ where we were greeted with this sign:
holy rummage sale!!
i already knew it was going to be good! and it was- many great trinkets and treasures that will make their debut at dear darling soon! from an amazing mushroom wall hanging to several hats and an awesome pair of red pumps, i came away with a box full of goodies!
definitely worth the drive! after the sale we headed back to the ferry and had a lovely trip back- enoying the sun and the breeze coming off puget sound. all in all, a great ‘hunting’ trip!
